Its been a bit slow here at View from the Edge for postings, but I’ve actually been pretty busy lately. I haven’t been working much at my day job, though I am back there today after a bit more than a week off. Rather than being lazy for the week, however, which is more often than not what I do with time off, I’ve been working and traveling a fair bit with comedy …

We all have incidents in our lives, I think, that scare us a little as we look back on them, cases where we came far closer than we’d like to very bad things happening, even closer than we realized at the time. Its remarkable how funny these incidents can seem from hindsight …

Although admittedly that term is used in its loosest sense when talking about me, I took my first step into the world of “musical” parody on Monday night at Dickens. While other parts of of the show were pretty painful (I really need to tighten up the lead-in to the Spiderman song especially), I was pretty happy with the way the songs went and the crowd reaction, even though my singing ability leaves a fair bit to be desired …

… and I think a good time was had by all. One of the things I enjoy most about getting back into comedy, especially around Calgary, is the chance to catch up to some old friends that I haven’t seen in awhile, and last night a very old one came out for the show. Sanji T (sorry buddy, not even gonna TRY to spell your last name) was a comic who was first starting out on his career here in Calgary back in the early 90’s
